PEARLS JUST GOT COOL

PEARLS

The pearl has always been admired for its lustre and luminosity but for too long the pearl has been considered dull and boring and has been overshadowed by more colourful and sparkly gemstones but that's all about to change this season - pearls just got cool!

Pearls too centre stage at a number of SS18 catwalk shows, baroque pearls with their organic form and shape shone on the Sonia Rykiel runway, while over at Alexander McQueen pearls were given the gothic treatment, where they were mixed with heavy chains and charms in statement earrings and chokers. Ports 1961 used oversized pearls to create a clean modern look, while Simone Rocha use pearl hair slides and chandelier earrings to create romance and femininity. But it was at Y/Project and Prabal Gurung where pearls got their post dramatic make-over as we saw pearls take on a sculptural and edgy vibe.

Pearls have never been cooler, so whether you just ass a pearl stud to your earring mix or layer a string of pearls with other necklaces make sure you add pearls to your jewellery look this spring summer.
